Tip 1: Tips for naming
files in
consecutive order by month
When you save a file and name it January 03, and then save
and name the next month’s file as February 03, the latter
file will appear first in the list of files because the letter
F comes before the letter J in the alphabet. Since Windows
reads numerically before reading alphabetically, try naming
your files using the following sequence. ( Of course, 1-03
indicates the month of January, year 2003.)
If you need to name files weekly,
use the
following file names:
| Week 1-03 |
|
Week 2-03 |
|
| Week 3-03 |
|
Week 4-03, etc. |

2: Tips for dealing with telephone
technical support
If you are unhappy with the responses you’re getting
from a technician, hang up and call again. The next person
may have more experience with your problem and may answer
your questions faster and correctly.
Technicians can only work with
the information you give them. The better the information
you give, the better they can identify and solve your problem.
For example, I once had someone tell me there was a rectangle
on the screen. Well, there are dozens of rectangles on computer
screens. Another time I was told that the options appeared.
It turned out to be a floating (right click) menu. There are
lots of options dialogue boxes so calling this menu an option
does not help. Get in the habit of reading the names on the
title bar of all windows and if a technician gives you the
proper name of an item, write it down and use it in your every
day computer language.
